The
overall purpose of this class is to help Seniors improve their body
balance, the health of nine body joints, and breathing movements to
reduce stress. This program is designed for Seniors to improve their
balance and stability while standing, walking, or turning. In
addition, Seniors will be shown exercises that are designed to
improve the health and flexibility of nine joints. And finally,
Seniors will be shown deep breathing exercises to help relax the body
and relieve stress and tension. As an added bonus, periodically
throughout the program, individual exercises will be introduced to
strengthen specific areas such as the hips, thighs, shoulders, etc.
The
program is set up to be half hour sessions offered twice weekly (Tue.
& Thur.) in the morning at 11am. All sessions will be held at
the Foothills Community Center. The cost for each session will be
$5, and is paid when they come to class. Five session loyalty passes
will be offered at $20. The class size will be open, so that Seniors
can attend based on their schedules. The more the merrier.
Each
session will be the same, with the periodic addition of specific
exercises for targeted areas. Basically, each session will begin
with warm up exercises designed to stretch the body, then balance and
stability exercises while moving, then joint stretching and
strengthening exercises, and finally breathing exercises to relax and
calm the body.
